Edo Govt Presents Staff of Office to Sub Clan Head of Iraokhor, Avhianwu Clan ..

Edo State Government has officially presented the Staff of Office to the Sub-Clan Head of lraokhor, Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State.

Presenting the Staff of Office to the Okphe-Ukpi, the Deputy Governor,Rt. Hon.Comrade Philip Shaibu, who represented Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki said: “on behalf of the Governor and Government of Edo State, I present to you, Your Royal Highness, YRH, Thomas Ilogho, the Staff of Office associated with the title of the Okphe-Ukpi of Iraokhor”.

Shaibu attributed the delay in the presentation on the litigation that trailed his appointment for over ten years.
He affirmed that Iraokhor was one big family, reputed and known for peace and tranquility.

The Deputy Governor was optimistic that all hands would be on deck, to bring about the much needed development to Iraokhor Community and its environs, in line with the vision, programs and policies of Edo State Government.

“According to the Deputy Governor,”no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of rancour”.

“In this regard, I appeal to you all to join the Okphe-Ukpi to use his exalted position to make positive impact on the people, in order to chart the path of peace, tranquility and development at all times”.

“In the same vein, I wish to implore everyone to be vigilant during the coming elections and to promptly report any strange and suspicious movements by anyone to the law enforcement agencies for prompt and neccessary action”.

Shaibu reiterated that the State Government would not tolerate any situation capable of undermining the peace and tranquility of Iraokhor Community and Edo State in general.

He urged the traditional ruler to be fair and firm in taking decisions affecting his subjects.

In his remarks,Edo State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Hon. Monday Osaigbovo, enjoined traditional rulers in the State to continue to pray and support Governor Godwin Obaseki, the good people and Government of Edo State – as they have always done – to take the State to the next level of development.

He said Obaseki holds traditional rulers in high esteem as demonstrated by his recent directive to pay the five percent statutory allocation,in addition to councils’ five percent revenue grant due to them.

Delivering his address,
the Okphe-Ukpi of Iraokhor, His Royal Highness, Thomas Ilogho, appreciated the State Government for its developmental efforts in Iraokhor Community, while assuring the Deputy Governor of total support in his future endeavours.

The event attracted eminent personalities from all walks of life, including sons and daughters of lraokhor, both at home and in the diaspora.

FG Approves N24.2bn For Free Internet At Airports, Schools, Markets

THE Federal Government has approved free internet services worth N24.2 billion naira at 20 selected airports, 43 universities and six markets across the country.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Isa Pantami, disclosed this after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday

Pantami said that the airports were selected from the six geo-political zones.

“Certain intervention projects are going to be implemented by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Nigerian Communications Commission of providing Internet in 20 selected airports in Nigeria and higher institutions of learning and also some markets to support micro small and medium enterprises.

“In each geopolitical zone, you have around three airports. In the South-West, we have Lagos and Ondo. For the South-East, we have Anambra and Enugu.

“For the South-South, we have Port Harcourt and Akwa Ibom. For the North-Central we have Abuja and Ilorin. In the North-West, we have Kano, Sokoto and Kebbi. For the North-East we have Yola, Maiduguri and Gombe.”

The minister said the markets and 43 institutions which include universities and polytechnics were also drawn from the six geopolitical zones, adding that it will ease e-learning in schools and also enhance the transition to a cashless economy.

Buhari Approves Appointment Of 6 New Perm Secs

DSS Confirms Plot To Install Interim Govt

The Department of State Security Service has said that the plot to Instal interim government was real

DSS noted that the plot was “by some key players” to install an interim government and stop Bola Ahmed Tinubu from being inaugurated as president.

A statement on Wednesday, by Peter Afunanya, the public relations officer of the secret police, said: “The Department of State Services (DSS) has identified some key players in the plot for an Interim Government in Nigeria.

“The Service considers the plot, being pursued by these entrenched interests, as not only an aberration but a mischievous way to set aside the constitution and undermine civil rule as well as plunge the country into an avoidable crisis.

“The illegality is totally unacceptable in a democracy and to the peace loving Nigerians. This is even more so that the machination is taking place after the peaceful conduct of the elections in most parts of the country.”
